Createstudio: Animation finally made easy for everyone!
I have recently seen a lot of advertisement on social media about the aforementioned. The website looked quite impressive and the marketing videos were great with squeaky-clean animation and upbeat music. So, I decided to buy it and see if it really fares well against its claim: ‘Animation finally made easy for everyone’.
Right off the bat, the price was attractive. Some of the leading brands providing such services, namely, VYOND (https://www.vyond.com/plans/), costs $89 (£73/month) So, for a ONE-TIME PURCHASE price of $67 (£55.07) it seemed like a very good idea.
Out of the box it was a good solution into making quick and engaging videos. There are a lot of tutorials available on YouTube and there are regular emails about training webinars The color of the interface is easy on your eyes and the overall interface in many ways reminds you of Adobe Premier Pro which is quite helpful personally (at least a lot of it). There are some templates available in three styles: 3D, elegant , supreme to accommodate different requirements. The choices available in terms of style are great and frankly, well done considering they are offering 3D which not a lot of them would acre to provide out there. It is a layer-based with a fluid drag-and-drop workflow. There is a lot of scope for making changes to the properties of elements in a scene from nice animations to colours which ticks all the right boxes in the books of most creatives.
Then, I started hitting the issues with the purchase. I would like to rephrase, ‘There are some templates available…..’ to ‘ There are FEW templates available’. Once I started trying this out I realised a lot of the contents needed to be downloaded and a vast majority are actually premium content that creators could only access through a monthly subscription arrangement. The animation or actions for characters are limited in number, hopefully not because of the price and maybe because it is a new software and there maybe a lot to do. The interface may take a little bit of time to get used to as every bit of action for a character would require a separate layer which could end up making layer-stack really heavy by the end of a 5-10 minute long animation, explaining something sophisticated. One thing is for sure, instead of right-clicking and choosing ‘Delete’ in order to delete something, it will be nice to be able to just use the button to do.
Overall, not a bad product on a basic level but immensely limited for the ‘ONE-TIME PURCHASE price’
